Tech startup PrimHive keeps cleaning entrepreneurs booked and busy.
As South Africa continues to grapple with high unemployment, young graduates are finding themselves forced to create their own job opportunities. The statistics paint a bleak picture. According to the recent Quarterly Labour Survey results released by StatsSA, 45.5% of young people between the ages of 15 and 34 are unemployed.
That was the reality for PrimHive founder Mbali Primrose Skosana. She started her cleaning company in 2020 after struggling to find employment for two years after obtaining her Diploma.
“I was confident that I would find a job straight after graduation, but that wasn’t the case. Doors were closed everywhere, and I had to force one open by establishing a cleaning solutions business. This was my way of taking charge of my situation and finding a way to earn my own money,” she says.
But like most businesses trying to stretch finances because of limited capital, the business never got off the ground. This experience forced Primrose to go back to the drawing board and rethink the business model. “I knew that like me, finding work was hard for several people, and I was determined to find a solution that would not only keep me in business but also create job opportunities for others and that’s how PrimHive was born.”
About PrimHive
PrimHive is an online on-demand cleaning service platform created to connect cleaning service providers to customers. The tech startup enables service providers to enlist their residential, commercial and car cleaning services which are matched with customers through the online storefront across South Africa.
PrimHive manages the platform as well as the marketing and advertising costs, thus allowing cleaning service providers to focus on their business offering and ultimately grow their customer base without worrying about too much else.
“I know the struggles of working “on” and “in” your business as a startup, and not knowing where and how to find your customers. This is why our new online platform makes so much more business sense for young entrepreneurs,” adds Primrose.
PrimHive’s affordable pricing model removes the barrier to entry that several entrepreneurs struggle with when going to market. While also making it possible for customers to find a service provider that suits their service needs and budget too.
